Sheila Hanby

Sheila Hanby, DVM, Owner

A Wilmington NC native, Dr. Hanby graduated from North Carolina State University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1996. Following graduation, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Coral Springs Animal Hospital in Florida. Dr. Hanby currently sees patients mainly at her Leland NC practice, Capeside Animal Hospital, but is closely involved with day to day operation of Bladen Animal Hospital.

Johanna Parker

Johanna Parker, DVM

Dr. Parker grew up in Littleton, North Carolina, and earned her B.S. in Biology from UNC Wilmington. She went on to attend the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While she initially focused on equine medicine, she discovered a passion for small animal care during her studies. After beginning her career in Frankfort, Indiana, she returned to southeastern North Carolina to pursue mixed animal practice with an emphasis on small animal medicine and surgery.

Since 2015, Dr. Parker has been a key member of the Bladen Animal Hospital team. She also serves as the shelter veterinarian for the Pender County Animal Shelter and sits on both the Shelter Advisory Board and the Dangerous Dog Committee.

Currently residing in Pender County, Dr. Parker shares her home with her husband, two sons, two cats, and numerous dogs. She is active in local United Kennel Club chapters and spends her free time gardening, hunting, and competing in shows with her hounds.

Jonni

Jonni, Practice Manager

My name is Jonni. I am a wife and mother to four children, three girls and one boy. I moved to Bladen County when I was 10 years old, so I have lived here most of my life. I have worked at Bladen Animal Hospital since 2012. I started working under Dr. Midyette in 2012 and stayed on when the business changed ownership in 2014. I have always loved animals and wanted every animal that I saw. I enjoy working with everyone’s animals. I am working on a small farm myself! I currently have four dogs and three cats. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I look forward to caring for all your furbabies.

Kameron

Kameron, Veterinary Assistant

My name is Kameron. I am from Lake Waccamaw, NC. I have now been with BAH since January ‘24 and I absolutely love being here. I have about 1 year of experience prior to working at BAH. I enjoy working with animals as I have 4 dogs of my own. 2 Malti-poos and 2 Great Danes. In my spare time I like to spend time with my friends and family and going on vacations year round, as well as playing with my dogs. I look forward to caring for your pets as if they were my own!

KaCheina

KaCheina, Veterinary Assistant

Hi, my name is KaCheina! Working in the veterinary field has always been a dream of mine, in 2020 I had the opportunity to turn that dream into reality. From the very start, I knew how much I loved caring for animals and learning everything I could to grow in this field. I joined the team at Bladen Animal Hospital in March 2025, and I’ve enjoyed every moment. At home, I have two lovable Labradors and one cat who mean the world to me—I couldn’t imagine life without them! I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member and providing them with the best care and love they deserve.

Jamie

Jamie, Customer Service Representative

My name is Jamie, and I have had a lifelong passion for animals. I am the proud owner of an orange cat named Sneezy, whose companionship has further strengthened my dedication to animal care. From a young age, I was drawn to the veterinary field, often caring for my stuffed animals and imagining myself as their veterinarian—an early spark that shaped my career aspirations.

As I grew older, I pursued a career in human healthcare and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for four to five years. In this role, I gained valuable hands-on experience providing compassionate care and supporting individuals in need. While this work was deeply rewarding, I ultimately realized that my long-term goal was to work with animals, prompting me to return to school to pursue a career in animal care.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity Bladen Animal Hospital has given me to begin this journey. I am highly motivated to grow within the field of veterinary medicine and am honored to contribute to the care and well-being of your patients and the people who love them.
